emerging blogs 2015

This is the 8th year of the Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs Writing Project. I’m happy to participate in this advocacy of Digital Filipino / Ms. Janette Toral that recognizes new and emerging blogs making an impact with readers.

After going through the list of blogs submitted for consideration, here are my picks for this year’s emerging influential blogs:

1 Chef Jay’s Kitchen www.chefjayskitchen.com

All about food: restaurant reviews, food products, recipes, etc. What’s not to like?

2 Personal Finance Tips http://www.thinkpesos.com/

I’m partial to blogs that are big on practical information. Financial literacy is one cause I advocate. An easy read, this blog caters to those who are just starting their journey towards  financial independence.

3 Make Happy Money http://www.make-happymoney.com/

Again, another easy to understand personal finance blog that teaches its readers how to make money and save money.

4 Best of Negros Island http://www.bestofnegrosisland.com/

As of the time that I made this list, there were over 40 entries on the master list, but there seems to be a surfeit of travel blogs submitted. Travel blogs are always popular with readers. That said, I like this one because it centers on Negros Island only, and presents the island well in terms of comprehensive travel information and photos.

5 Nagayon http://www.nagayon.com/

Pretty much the same reason as #4. Isn’t it awesome that these bloggers can find endless things to write about their beloved place?

6 Baby Jet Set Go www.babyjetsetgo.com

Yet another travel blog, this one focuses on family travel.  A great resource particularly helpful for families looking to travel with babies and toddlers.

7 Manila Concert Junkies http://manilaconcertjunkies.blogspot.com/

I love music and this is one familiar blog on the list that I get to read from time to time to get info not just on upcoming concerts but also anything music-related. The bloggers’ passion for music is evident in their writing. This reminds me of a writing job I had last year where I wrote about electronic music shows and DJs, after watching the shows on Youtube. That was a fun gig, and I can imagine the fun these guys have in maintaining this blog.

8 Doctor Eamer’s Blog https://iamdoctoreamer.wordpress.com/

Definitely not the usual blog I encounter. Written in Taglish, but mostly in Filipino, the blog offers commentaries on love and relationship issues, in a way that will make you smile or even laugh, and make you think about your own life.

9 Dugout Philippines http://www.dugout.ph/

Lives up to its tagline as Your Filipino Sports Authority, covering the favorite sports of Filipinos. The blog not just reports on the games and final scores but also features behind the scenes stories as well.

10 Artful Chapter http://www.artfulchapter.com/

A young girl shares her talent for photography and  arts through blogging.

So that’s my top 10 for this year. Wishing the best of luck to everyone in their blogging journey.

I ask my fellow bloggers to participate in this writing project to encourage new bloggers and also to foster closer ties within the blogging community. Also by participating in this project, you get one delegate slot to attend the Digital Influencers Marketing Summit on October 10, 2015 at the Best Western Plus Antel Hotel in Makati City.
