Of course, guns alone don’t kill!
But they do kill when placed in the hands of the wrong person. Or a law-abiding person in the wrong time or place or circumstance. I’m for stricter gun control laws. Definitely no guns in schools. No guns for citizens who are not involved in law enforcement work.
Gun-related deaths are lower in countries having strict gun control laws. An old article from The Atlantic about Japan’s gun control laws states:
“In part by forbidding almost all forms of firearm ownership, Japan has as few as two gun-related homicides a year.”
I pray that there be no more gun-related violence before meaningful changes in gun control laws and enforcement can take place. I pray for all the victims of gun violence in Newtown, Connecticut.
The right to life is way above the right to own guns.
